This is a map of Woodham Walter, our house 'Bentleys' is on the middle right. There are around 1150 people in the Parish, served by three pubs, a village shop and a church
The Bell pub, built in the 16th century, is a traditional pub with lots of oak beams and serves good food at reasonable prices.
The Cats pub is a lovely country pub, down a small lane just outside the village. It has traction engines and fair-ground organs, excellent beer and is an ideal pub attracting customers from miles around.
The village shop and post office has all the smells and character needed, it sells tea, coffee and rolls and serves as one of the main meeting places in the village.
Woodham Walter has a unique and attractive Elizabethan (1st) church but this is a church just across the river Blackwater in a small hamlet called Ulting. It must have one of the most delightful settings of any church in the country. It is situated right on the top left corner of the above map.
